Vernon L Sterling was born in Satin, Texas on September 21,1956 to the loving parents of N.L. Lister and Verna Sterling. To those who knew him well, know they called him "Slim". He received his formal education from the Dallas Independent School District, where he attended Skyline and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. After High School he         attended El Centro College. Shortly after, in 1977, he started his driving career driving for the Dallas Independent School District.

In 1978 he met the love of his life Annie Silas and on December 16,1980 she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Quincy. Everyone that knew him knew that he had a passion for cooking that good ol' B.B.Q. He also loved to skate and go fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents: N.L. and Verna Lister, his wife Annie Silas, brother-in-law Perry Silas and grandparents: Vernon and Myrtle Sterling.

Vernon leaves behind to cherish his memories (1) son Quincy Silas; his baby sister Sarah Lister; (3) nephews: Bryant, Patrick and Brandon and a host of other relatives and friends.
