Vernon Johnson Jr. was born on May 23, 1941 to the late Vernon "Doc" Johnson and the late Emma Johnson in Rusk, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Sammi Jean Epperson-Johnson; (3) bonus daughters: Barbara "Big Baby" Smith , Yvonne "Du" Campbell and Lawanda "My Nurse" Shed; (2) sisters: Bertha Davis and Marie Mollice; (9) nephews; (8) nieces along with a host of other family and friends.
