Umeka Tichelle Hampton was born to Priscilla Hampton-Ombok and Jessie Davis Norton on January 27, 1979 in Minden, Louisiana. She completed her education at James Madison High School in Dallas, Texas. Affectionately known as "Meek," Umeka was celebrated for her incredible dancing skills, her radiant smile, and her genuinely sweet spirit. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren deeply.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, playing games on her phone, engaging in conversations with everyone she met, and always enjoying a good time surrounded by others. To know her was truly to love her, as she left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.

Umeka leaves to cherish her loving memory her parents; her brother, Nicholas Hampton of Bossier City, Louisiana; her sister, Norah Ombok-Toles; her four children, Shavonta Bell, Tairra Bell, DaQwon Hampton, and Chanel Pruitt-Smith; five beloved grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
