Obituary

Shawnathan Edward Morrow, a devoted husband, beloved son, supportive brother, loving uncle and a true friend departed this life on August 29, 2025 but not before leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him best as "that dude"; the one who would go the distance for those he loved.

Born in Akron, Ohio to Jennifer Kapity and William Patrick Morrow on July 14, 1974, Shawn was the oldest and only male of three children and raised with strong family values. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, beginning a lifelong journey of faith.

Shawn graduated from Butchel High School in 1993 and completed his Associates Degree at the   National Institute of Technology in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Shawn was passionate about all things technology — from the latest electronics to gaming, he loved staying up to date with the newest innovations.

"The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.'" In His divine wisdom and perfect timing, God revealed His love and favor toward Shawn when he met and married Sonya Watters on August 13, 2004. Trusting in God rather than           superstition, they chose to marry on Friday the 13th — a date most would avoid, but Shawn and Sonya embraced it with joy and boldness, knowing their union was blessed by God. Their marriage was built on love and laughter, an extension of their faith and family. In 2007, Shawn and Sonya chose to make Texas their home.

Shawn's professional career includes over 15 years of dedicated service as an Inventory Specialist for Oncor Electric Delivery. He was a committed and hardworking employee, continuing to work faithfully until his health no longer permitted. Even outside of work, his passion for technology remained strong. At home, he was affectionately known by Sonya as her personal "tech support".

Above all, Shawn was a devoted family man and a loyal friend. He took pride in the long-lasting relationships that he built. He was an avid sports enthusiast and even though he made his home in Texas, his heart remained with his Ohio teams. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, the      Cleveland Cavaliers, and a die-hard supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Although naturally shy and soft-spoken, Shawn joined his father and brothers-in-law every Saturday morning for their podcast, Four Guys on Sports. He genuinely looked forward to this weekly time of fellowship and enjoyed their lively conversations and connection. He also collected and traded sports memorabilia and loved to try new things (especially different foods). Shawn is often referred to as "that dude" primarily because of his genuine love for his family, friends and everyone around him. Simply put, he was a good man with a good heart and will be greatly missed by so many.

Shawnathan's life of genuine love and selfless giving will be remembered in the hearts of his adoring wife of 21 years, Sonya; mother, Jennifer Kapity; father, William Patrick (Flora) Morrow; sisters, Justine (Dale) Pyles, Melanie (Frank) Yusko; step-sister, Melissa Baker; brother-in-law and true friend, Gordon (Jada) Watters, Nathan (Scherry) Watters, Steven Watters; sister-in-law, Myra (Herbert) Thomas; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews (including Vincent Yusko lovingly referred to as Shawn's "mini-me"); abiding friends, Ryan Blagg, Tim Richards and Serge Thomas and a host of other relatives and friends.
