Sammie Joe Roberson was born in Douglasville, Texas on May 30, 1938 to the parentage of Bobby Robinson Sr. and Ella Johnson. He married Lynell Edwards on May 29, 1954.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father , 6 siblings and 1 son.

Sammie leaves to cherish his memory (5) daughters: Shenitha (Tawanknee) Henry, Sheketha (Andre) Williams, Tamika Eldridge, Jovonda May, Anqunetta Franklin and Lashonda Lacy; (3) sons: Darryl Robinson, Coys Gene Raye and Edward (Alma) Fisher; (23) grandchildren; (28) great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
