Our beloved brother, son, and father—affectionately known to everyone as “Pooh”—passed away at the vibrant age of thirty-seven. He was a man who didn't just walk through life; he danced, he rapped, and he built a world of absolute joy around everyone lucky enough to know him. Pooh lived with a brightness and purpose that most people take a century to find.
He was the ultimate optimist. No matter how dark the day, he carried a spark of positivity that could light up an entire room. He refused to let the world weigh him down, choosing instead to lift others up with his laugh, his smile, and his unforgettable energy. You’ll know to expect a “Happy Friday” from Pooh whether it be a text or a call!! To know Pooh was to know a true jack-of-all-trades. There was almost nothing he couldn’t do, fix, or figure out! If something was broken, he’d fix it, mastering every challenge with a hands-on spirit and a get it done attitude!
Of all his passions, three things held his heart completely: God, family, and music. Music was truly the soundtrack to his soul. It didn't matter the genre; if it had a beat, a melody, or a message, he felt it deeply. He used music to connect, to express himself, and to bring people together. Even on his last days! He knew that when words failed, a song could say it all.
His family was his anchor. His deep devotion to his mother was a beautiful testament to the incredible son he was. He mirrored so much character from his father that all we could do was laugh when we called him out on things lol
As a father to his two beautiful children, they were his true melodies. We know he is missing them so much, as he did not want to leave them, but his legacy lives on securely through them. We see his unyielding positivity in his children's eyes, and we hear his laughter echoing in his favorite songs. Something that we will forever hold on to!
He taught us how to live fully, how to love fiercely, and how to find the good in every single day. While our hearts are heavy, we take profound comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain, has made it safely to Heaven, and is sharing a peace we can only imagine!
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents and nephew, with whom he is now peacefully reunited.
Pooh is survived by his parents: Brenda McKinney and Francis Bakare; (2) children: Princeton and Ali’jah; (8) siblings: Precilla McKinney, Tommy McKinney, his twin Monikaque London (Gary Jr.), Ieshia KcKinney, Rotimi Patrick Bakare, Omotayo Grace Bakare, Ayomide Bakare and Darius Alexander along with a host of extended family, nieces, nephews and dear friends who loved him dearly.
