Marva Jo (Bluitt) Miles was born on January 26,1939 in Mexia Texas to the parentage of Nicodemus and Jessie Bluitt. She moved to Dallas with her family at the age of 8, where she attended elementary school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. She met and  married John Lee Towns, to this union one child was born.

Marva accepted Christ and united with New Independent Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where she served faithfully in the choir, on the Usher Board and other auxiliaries. Marva worked at Parkland Hospital, leaving there to work many years at Texas Instruments Dallas until her retirement.

In 1971 she married the love of her life, Elliot Miles Sr and six children were added to this union.

Marva enjoyed taking care of her family, helping others, as well as Gospel and Blues music. Her quick wit, fun personality and fierce independence will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Marva was predeceased by her parents, Nicodemus and Jessie Bluitt, sister, Mouda Erskine, husband Elliot Miles Sr and nephew, William Harper.

She leaves to cherish her memories:7 children; sons; Lafayette ( Gwen) Miles, Elliot (LaTonza) Miles Jr. daughters; Francene (Leonard) Jones, Veda Miles, Yvonne Musgrove, Gwenetta Mallory, and Kimberly (Donnell) Mansel. Twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren. Brothers-in-law; Jesse Miles Jr., Robert Carson, and Frank Newsome. Sisters-in-law; Alice Miles, Bernice Miles, Doris Miles and a host of nieces, nephews and loving family members and friends.
