Matha Lee Chatman was born on September 14, 1943 in Rusk, Texas to the union of M.C. and Velma L. Chatman.  He attended secondary school in McKinney, TX and later begun working as a custodian for the Richardson School District.

He lived in Garland Texas for many years finally residing in Dallas, Texas.

Matha enjoyed listening to blues music and spending time with close family and friends. He also loved scrapping goods as a hobby.

He is preceded in death by his parents in death by his parents, 3 brothers: M.C., Dan & Lindell Chatman, 3 sisters: Bessie Lockridge, Louise Chatman & Avon Chatman.

Matha leaves behind to cherish his memories (2) brothers: Rayford & Prince Chatman; common law wife of over 30 years Lena Carson; step daughter Tameka (Michael) Medlock; (2) grandchildren: Keiarra Chanette & Jamauris Carson; (1) great grandchild Kenzie Chanette and a host of other family and friends.
