Obituary

On February 9, 2005, Jerrod Kelley Grant, Jr., affectionately known as "Lil J," was born in Dallas, Texas, as the third child of Jerrod Kelley Grant, Sr. and LaToya Grant. Lil J touched the hearts of everyone who knew him with his warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit.

Known as the "King of Scoring" he loved to roast those around him and bringing laughter wherever he went. Lil J's sense of humor and quick wit made him the life of every gathering. Lil J had a natural talent for turning any moment into a competition, especially when it came to games and racing.

He was deeply family-oriented, finding joy in spending quality time with those he loved. Whether he was playing video games with friends and family or engaging in conversations about his many interests, he was always surrounded by love and joy.

Lil J had a passion for motorcycles and cars—he could talk about them for hours, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with anyone willing to listen. His interest in sports was just as strong; he loved discussing football and basketball, analyzing every play with the expertise of a true fan. Curious and eager to learn, Lil J constantly sought answers to the questions that intrigued him, and he applied this knowledge to his everyday life. Lil J did things his way, unapologetically.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Grant; his uncle, Richard Grant; and his special brother, Peter Rivers.

Lil J leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Jerrod Grant, Sr. (Chaneka) and LaToya Grant; his sisters, Kiara Grant (Javion) and Jené Grant (Tray); his grandparents, Janet Watson (Reginald) and RD Kelley; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
