Obituary

Jearlene DeVaughn Bruton was born with a twin sister to Elbert and Pearlene Anderson in Marlin, TX on March 16, 1944. She moved to Frost, Texas with her parents and siblings at the age of 5 years old. It was at this young age, Jearlene learned the value of hard work by pulling cotton, raising pigs, cattle, chicken and horses on the family farm. She attended Ash Creek school in Pelham, Texas and finished High School at G. W. Carver in Dawson, Texas.

After graduating, Jearlene moved to Tyler, Texas where she met the love of her life, Raymond Bruton. Raymond and Jearlene married on January 31, 1963, and two children, Sharron and Julius, were born to this union.

Jearlene moved to Dallas, Texas with her husband and children in December of 1966. She worked for Texas Instruments for 26 years on the assembly line and retired in 1995. Mrs. Bruton dedicated her life to Christ and served on the Usher Board at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she joined Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church and continued to serve as an Usher and Deaconess.

Jearlene had a deep desire to care for others and that would become even more evident as the Bruton's opened their home to children in the Foster Care System. In 2009, Mr. and Mrs. Bruton adopted three boys, Carmelo, Daryl and Darius, and would raise them as their own. She spent her later years being a caretaker and caring for her great-grandchildren whom she adored.

Jearlene's boisterous and infectious laugh could fill a room. Her voice echoed long after she stopped speaking. Anyone who knew Mrs. Bruton knew she was caring, kind, had a generous heart and was willing to help all that were in need. Everyone knew she enjoyed trips up highway 75 to her favorite place. These attributes, among so many more, set her apart from the rest and made her one-of-a kind.

Mrs. Jearlene Bruton entered eternal rest on December 24, 2025.

She is preceded in death by her father Elbert Anderson Sr., mother Pearlene Anderson, son Julius Charles Bruton, brothers Kenneth Earl Anderson, Leonard Anderson, sisters Joyce Bartee, Berdia Dell Davis, and Mayme Anderson.

Jearlene leaves behind a rich legacy of love. Left to cherish her memory, is her loving husband of 62 years Raymond Bruton,  one daughter, Sharron Neal (Sherman), three sons Carmelo, Daryl, and Darius, two granddaughters KreShun Johnson (Willie) and LaShun Cabness (Earl), six great- grandchildren, Carter, Cailynn, Cambrynn, Chandler, Chancellor and Kaliya "Rose", three sisters, her twin Earlene Garrett (Steve),  Pinkie Bowens and Gwendolyn  Bush, one brother Elbert Anderson Jr., plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
