Obituary

JAWAN DOMINIQUE SCROGGINS-WATTERS was born on October 23, 1976, in   Dallas, Texas.  His parents, Jada and Gordon Watters raised him in a loving Christian family, the oldest of 5 children.  He received his educational foundation and enrichment in the Dallas Public School system, a 1995 graduate of H. Grady Spruce High School.

Jawan accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 6, united with the family church, Mt. Moriah and was baptized by the late Dr. Robert D. Reed.  As a Youth, Jawan was a soloist in the Choir, member of the Usher Board and Squad Leader of the Lord's Host Drill Team.  His dedication and contribution to the Drill Team helped Mt. Moriah to achieve record Elite  status each year at the National Baptist Convention.

Post-graduation, Jawan entered college at Texas Southern University and furthered his      education in General Studies.  While in Houston, he was an active member of the St. Agnes Baptist Church Drill Team where he continued to demonstrate his love for drilling and marching techniques giving glory and praise to God.

Jawan's employment record is comprised of years of service in the Restaurant and Hospitality industry.  Often described as one who never met a stranger, He was a diligent employee and considered among the top waitstaff at several restaurants across the DFW and Houston areas.  Oftentimes, he was requested by frequent restaurant patrons.  His career ambition was to become an entrepreneur and open a school emphasizing best in class hospitality and hosting management techniques.  Because of his love of the arts, he also held positions in the field of dance and enjoyed promoting sporting events.

"Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so." Jawan's sincere love for his family and friends, his gentle soul and fun-loving spirit was contagious and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, J.D. and Mary Scroggins and        paternal grandparents, Holton and Lillian Watters.

Those who remain to celebrate Jawan's legacy of love and laughter include his devoted   parents, Jada and Gordon Watters; sisters, Tasanlyn (Thomas) Clark; Tiarra (Marcus) Sloan, Sydnei Watters; brother, Brian Watters; nieces, Giada Watters, A'Mya Sloan, Brooklyn Sloan, Jaide Watters, Adrienne Watters; nephews, Thomas Jay Clark, Ayeden Sloan,        DeMarcus Sloan; special aunt, Tammye McWilliams; godparents, Anthony and Robin     Eddington, Sr., other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, godbrothers and sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.
