Jannie Marie Battle, born on January 18, 1960, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the beloved daughter of Sherman and Bessie McKinney. As the second of five children, Jannie grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and the values instilled by her parents. She received her education in Shreveport and finished in Dallas, Texas where she laid the foundation for a life marked by resilience, love, and grace.

Jannie was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Bessie McKinney, and her brothers, Sherman Jr., Joseph and Michael McKinney.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her devoted son, Christopher McKinney; her treasured grandchildren, Jasmine Nicole McKinney and Destiny Johnson, and a great grandson Denim Wilson; her loving brother, Raymond Davenport Jr.; and her dear sister, Doris Ann Gambrell. She is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
