James Lester Bass was born on July 22, 1939 to the parentage of the late Dee Bass and Mertie Gates Bass. His received his formal education in the Garrison Colored School System.

James accepted and professed faith in Jesus Christ later on life. He  retired from S.H. Lynch and Bass Trucking. He married Mary L. King and to this union two sons were born Aaron and Anthony.

He was an avid sports fan and at times he liked to debate, making sure you knew where he stood on the matter.

The Angel of silence entered into his life on Tuesday, November 12th, joining his dear parents Dee Bass and Mertie Gates-Bass, (2) brothers: Claude L. Bass and Odis C. Bass and (2) sisters:  Mertie B. Battles and Lillie M. Perry.

James leaves behind to cherish his memories (3) sons: Aaron Bass (Sherida) of Lancaster, TX , Anthony Bass and Gary Gillis both of   Dallas, TX; (9) grandchildren: Atre'l Bass, Autumn Bass-Pak, Asia Bass, Dillon Bedell Bass, Alacya Bass, Aaron Bass, Ana Bass, Alivia Bass; (1) great grandchild Velma Pak; (1) sister Velma R. Evans along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
