Gwendoyln Morris was born on September 15, 1946 to Lou Venia Collins and George Colton in Berkeley, CA. She attended Castle Mont High School. She worked in the nursing field as a RN. She met and married Oscar Grant in 1962 and to this union five children were born. Gwen later married Aurthur Morris in 1970 and to this union two children were born.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Carren Collins and Lois Montgomery, four brothers: Charles Collins, Louis Montgomery, Vertis Haley, Tony Brandon and foster brother Donnel Simmons.

Gwendolyn is survived by (7) children: Andrinette Grant (Bruce Hanks), Oscar Grant (Darenda), Bertrina Works, Arterina Works, Lanedria Grant, Onray Grant and Andre Grant; (3) nieces: Amanda Blake, Tiesha Omack and Essie Wiggins along with a host of other family and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
