Obituary

Born on August 26, 1964, in the beautiful islands of Guánica, Puerto Rico. Francisco was the beloved son of Francisco Rodriguez and Luisa Pardo. From the start, he carried the spirit of the island with him—strong, and passionate.

As a young man, he left Puerto Rico and moved to New Jersey, where he found not only a new home but an extended  family in the Horne's. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, and at just 17, he embarked on the greatest adventure—building a life together with her. Francisco proudly served his country in the United States  Army for 11 incredible years. As a Sergeant (E6) of the 1st Cavalry Platoon, he dedicated himself to duty, leadership, and  the protection of those around him. He carried the values of loyalty, discipline, and selflessness far beyond the military,  shaping the lives of everyone he encountered. After retiring from service, he settled in Texas, where he built not just a  house but a home—a place filled with love, laughter, and warmth. There, he continued to live out his greatest joy: being  with his family. Whether it was sharing stories, enjoying good music, or simply relaxing with a well-earned drink in hand, Francisco found happiness in the presence of those he loved most.

He will be remembered not only as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather but as a guiding light for so many. He had a heart that embraced everyone as family, raising not just his own children but playing a role in the lives of countless others. Rod was known for his loud music, singing, fussing and talking noise. He was loved for his selfless characteristics, like  allowing the neighborhood boys to come over & borrow tools and even going so far as to help with fixing on cars. Others  acknowledge the fact that no matter what, Rod would make it happen. He was a man who truly knew how to live, and  because of him, our lives are richer, fuller, and forever changed. You will truly be missed by a community of people from all generations.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Doretha Rodriguez, and his four children: Ebony, Tamara, Christian, and Angel Rodriguez. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchild, Cayson Zanders, and honorary grandchild, Isaiah Castello. His memory lives on through his mother, Luisa Pardo, his sister, Miriam Pardo, and his nieces and nephews:  Miguel, Marcos, Maria, and Rosa, along with the rest of the Gonzales family.

He is fondly remembered by his extended family, whom he held dear: Faye and Cleveland Pulliam, Roy Houston, Carolyn and Nathaniel Vaughan, Ricky, Rita, Edward, and Kenny Horne, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. His  honorary son, Anthony Castello, also holds his legacy close. In addition, he was blessed with a circle of amazing friends  who filled his life with love and laughter, including (but not limited to) The Key Family, The Johnson Family, The Logan  Family, and The Fisher Family. Rest peacefully, Francisco. Your legacy of love will never fade.
