Dorothy
Morehead
Jun 25, 1936 — Jan 21, 2022
Dorothy Mae Morehead was born on June 25, 1936, to the union of Leroy Harris Sr. and Eunice Mae Harris in Bryan, TX. Dorothy received her formal education in Bryan, TX, where she excelled in her studies.
Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age and was baptized at West Union Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until moving to Dallas, TX, in 1952. After moving to Dallas, TX, Dorothy taught Sunday School under the Ministry of Rev. Braggs. Later, Dorothy joined Zion Chapel, where she served as the President of the Missionary Board, taught Sunday School and spent much of her time traveling and spreading the Lord's word.
She was a loving and caring, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She always had her door open to anyone in need of a place to stay, a good meal to eat, clothes to wear, beautiful words of wisdom and a good laughter. No one was a stranger. If you knew her, you have heard her say, "My door is always open." She was full of love and she was also full of strength. She always said what she meant and meant what she said. She will be deeply missed, never forgotten and forever in our hearts.
Dorothy went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her father Leroy Harris Sr., her mother Eunice Mae Harris, her husband G.W. Morehead, Harold Johnson, son Lorenzo Hightower (Lo), great-grandson Isaiah Scott, her siblings: Ruby Bolden, James Harris, Mack Harris, Eugene Harris, Lula Phillips (Mae), Columbus Harris Sr., Hubert Harris (Dickie), Irene Lehman, Lawrence Harris, Delora Steamer (Lois), L.C.
