Obituary

On January 21, 1955, a beautiful soul was given to Penny Lamb-Jonkins, and that beautiful soul was given the earthly name, Bettye Jean Lamb. Bettye attended North Powderly High School in Powderly, Texas. She was united in matrimony to the late Leon Johnson of Detroit, Texas. To this union, three children were born, Jacqueline, Christopher and Tiffany.

Bettye was a devoted employee at the Paris Golf and Country Club for 35 years. Her excellent customer service was second to none. She always demonstrated a strong commitment to provide customers and her peers with an above and beyond experience. She looked forward to going to work daily to spend time with her Paris Golf & Country Club family throughout her employment. After retiring for a few years, she later decided to return back to work at the Paris Jr. High School cafeteria for approximately two years.

To know Bettye, is to know her hard work and dedication shined no matter where she was. She always greeted everyone she met with her warm and beautiful smile on her job and through out the community. Bettye knew how to have fun and most of all, how to treat people. She lived a life filled with love, compassion and lots of laughter. There was never a dull moment in the midst of any environment when surrounded by her close family and friends. Bettye knew how to have a good time, regardless the occasion. Her family will certainly miss her famous banana pudding, perfect deviled eggs and delicious taco salad.

Bettye was a jewel. She had a love for fashion and loved to set off her classic and unique style with a blinged hat from her massive wardrobe collection. Later on in her life she reunited with the Palestine Baptist Church of Novice, Texas. Bettye loved serving God, attending church and to fellowship with her beautiful church family. She was a vital member and was beloved for her humble, meek, yet; vibrant and infectious personality. During her illness, Bettye never wavered in her faith. She anxiously looked forward to going home so that she could get back to church on Sundays. Regardless of the physician's reports, she prayed, she believed and she truly fought a good fight to the end.

Bettye Jean Lamb-Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on October 31, 2024. Bettye reunites in heaven with her late husband, Leon Johnson; mother, Penny Lamb-Jonkins; brothers, M.C. Williams, Willie B. Ellis, Carl R. Ellis; sister, Martha R.
