Obituary

Joe Simpson was born on November 23, 1948, to his loving mother, Ms. Norris Jean Williams, and his father, Mr. Dillard Simpson. He attended John F. Kennedy High School, where he began building the foundation for a life filled with memories, relationships, and stories that would stay with those who knew and loved him.

Joe was a one-of-a-kind person whose presence could light up a room. He will forever be remembered for his gift of storytelling, his wonderful sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh. Whether sharing a story from the past or simply enjoying a moment with the people around him, Joe had a way of making memories that would be talked about for years to come.

Above all, Joe loved his family. His family was an important part of his life, and the love he shared with them will continue to live on through every story, every laugh, and every cherished memory. Joe also had a special love for his dogs, who brought him companionship, comfort, and joy.

On September 1, 2026, Joe peacefully departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory his son, Bass Simpson Jr., and daughters SaBrina Hearn & Cassandra Hearn-Turner, his grandchildren; Bresha Hearn, Trevonte Hearn, Desmond Turner, Antwan Simpson, Lyneha Simpson, D’Shun Speed, Sasha Hearn, Elaina Simpson, Marcus Rutledge Jr., and Rylee Rutledge; along with beloved family members, Belinda Durham, Duron Brooks, Sylvia Hearn, and daughter-in-law Megan Honey. Joe’s life was a gift, his laughter a blessing, and his memories will never be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Joe. Your stories will continue to be told, your laughter will continue to be remembered, and your love will live on through your family.
