Obituary

Adra Elizabeth Harris, was born on August 19, 1952, to Azzie Lee Braggs and Roscoe Walters. She attended Seagoville High School and later earned her license of Cosmetology from National Beauty School #4.

Her career path reflected both her versatility and her deep compassion for others. She worked in food service, convalescent care, cosmetology, and security. Adra dedicated many years of service to State Farm Insurance Company before retiring in 2015.

A devoted member of Strong Arms Church of God in Christ since 1987, Adra served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and as President of the Usher Board. On August 19, 2023, she married Mr, Jesse James Oatman, beginning a new chapter, in an old book of love and companionship.

Above all else, Adra's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to Bettina Harris (Tesha), Devin Harris (Carolyn), Merrick Harris, and Calandra Harris-Archie (Michael) whom she affectionally called her "Real-Life Black Angels" (yes, even Carolyn lol).

Adra was loved by all who knew her and and never met a stranger. Her infectious smile could brighten any day, and her warmth was felt by everyone around her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Adra was a avid crafter who loved showcasing her talents in cooking, crafting, jewelry making all things "Ele'Ganz by Ms. Adra". She was known for her wise counsel and practical advice, ALWAYS ready with a remedy (Essential Oil) for any ailment (lol).

She was preceded in death by her beloved biological parents, Azzie Lee Braggs and Roscoe Walters, her dear brother Willie Roy Luster, and her adoptive parents Dora Ellen and Joe Harvey, siblings, Elbert Jones, Patrick Jones, and Sheila Jones. Though their absence was deeply felt, Adra carried their love forward in the life she built and the family she nurtured.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Jesse James Oatman; her children, fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; niece, Teresa Luster; brothers, Wesley Jones, Anthony Jones,; sister, Gloria Branch; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. This beautiful soul will be deeply missed. We thank God for the precious memories that keep her spirit alive in our hearts.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
